The Caseless Ammunition Rifle (CAR) was designed by Rik van Bruaene in 1990. It was created as a response to Heckler & Koch's caseless G11 assault rifle. The CAR works in much the same way as the G11; the magazine is insterted along the top of the weapon, horizontally. The CAR also had an in-built optical sight and a bipod. VBR-Belgium claims the magazine size was an enormous 120 rounds; firepower of this quantity is usually reserved for light machine guns. It was never submitted to any military trials to my knowledge. The only known CAR rifle is in VBR-Belgium's possession.
